Longleat Safari Park Wiltshire
We are also only 2 miles south of the A303 and have good access to Longleat (15 miles).
Longleat is well worth a visit while you are staying with us. You can visit Longleat House and/or the Safari Park, with its extensive grounds. There are also many special events throughout the year including ballooning events. Longleat is the seat of the 7th Marquess of Bath. The Thynne family have owned the Estate since 1540 and in 1948 Lord Bath opened his house to the public to meet the ever increasing cost of maintaining and preserving the ancestral home and estate. Visitors should allow a full day to visit Longleats many attractions. The house was built by Sir John Thynne, and designed mainly by Robert Smythson, after the original priory was destroyed by fire in 1567. It took 12 years to complete and is widely regarded as one of the finest examples of Elizabethan architecture in Britain. Longleat is currently occupied by Alexander Thynn, 7th Marquess of Bath, a direct descendant.
